Abstract: Austria and Turkey can look back at a long tradition of business relations which were even strengthened by the rise of the European Union. Exporters of both countries had to adapt to the rules of the community and could enlarge their markets strongly. The sustainable ties of Turkey with the EU move an integration of the Republic of Turkey into an available proximity. The latest expansion steps of the European Union of April 16, 2003 in Athens integrate the East European joining candidates as well as Malta and Cyprus into the European Union. South East Europe, particularly Turkey, therefore becomes a new priority for the European Union. Along with this, great investment potentials are opened for the European economy. Also, interesting new development possibilities are open to the northern part of Cyprus, starting with Tourism and, in a later phase, industrial investments, too.
We will briefly introduce the Austrian Turkish Forum of Sciences in the context of the event.
We then invite to a glass of wine. Thanks to Restaurant Ephesos, Restaurant Ephesos, Bräunergasse 8, 1010 Wien for providing Turkish wine.
