Activity report 2002
April 2002: preparation of an informative map on the Turkish Research-, Technology- and Science Symstem der Informatinsmappe über das türkische Forschungs-, Technologie- und Wissenschaftssystem in the order of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Culture (bm:bwk)
May 2002: participation at an international conference in Manisa, Turkey (organised by Manisa University)
July 2002: co-editor of the symposium book „Auf den Spuren der Osmanen in der österreichischen Geschichte“ [On Ottoman Traces in Austrian History]; the book was published in the Eastern-Europe Series of the Austrian Institute of East and Southeast European Studies
August: Making contact with the City of Vienna for the erection of the artistic ceramic tile (diameter 1.20 m) by Sitki Olcar in the first district. This tile was presented to Renate Brauner in the name of Mayor Michael Häupl during the commemorative activities in 1999. This ceramic tile documents the Austrian Turkish relations from enmity to friendship
September 2-4, 2002: participation on an international congress in Sivas, Turkey (organised by Atatürk Araştırma Merkezi (ATAM))
September 9 – 13, 2002: participation on the XIV. international congress of the Turkish Historical Society (Türk Tarih Kurumu) in Ankara (scientists from 42 countries were participating!, Turkey
September 30 till October, 2: cultural and scientific event „Austria and Turkey: Encounters within a common past and present“ with concerts of Ahmet Özhan, the Austrian Gardemusik and a scientific symposium with scientists from 5 countries
October 24-26, 2002: participation on a congress on the 75th anniversary of NUTUk in Ankara, Turkey (organised by Atatürk Araştırma Merkezi (ATAM))
October 25, 2002: OTW as platform for a supposed cooperation on the Etymological Dictionary of the Turkish of Turkey by Andreas Tietze and the Türk Dil Kurumu (Turkish Linguistical Society)
November – December 2002: evaluation and initiation for new projects in the year 2003: symposium on the 80th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey; presentations of books, research main focuses.
