Kavaklidere Wines, the oldest and first private sector wine producer, was set up by Cemal And in Ankara on 1929. It continuously improved through those years and became Turkey's most important wine producer. A new period of viticulture starts at 1920s which witnesses the reforms of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the Founder of modern Republic of Turkey, who himself has a wine cellar. In such an athmosphere, Kavaklidere Wines, the oldest and first private sector wine producer of Turkey, is born. Cenap And, the founder of the firm, comes from a family which has big farms and vineyards, and he is an expert of viticulture since he lives in a wine loving culture in Austria where he has his university education.
Narince: “This wine was put on the market as a mono - coupage (wine produced by a single type of grape) product by Kavaklidere Wines, is a supreme wine obtained by aging in the casks for one year and for another in the bottles. This product is ready to be consumed when it is put on the market. It develops its bouquet in its third or fourth years so it is advised to keep it for another 2 to 4 years. It is mat yellow and greenish, and has an aroma of citrus fruit, lemon, and daisy. It has a finish of elegant oak cask.
Selection Red: Selection Red which is one of our prestige wines is produced from most distinguished "Öküzgözü" and "Bogazkere" grapes. It is bottled after it is rested in the cuvee for a long time, and the process of aging continues in the bottle. The selected grape types and used production method give this wine necessary character and strength for aging. Its "bouquet" develops when it is aged in the bottle. The tannins in wine become elegant. The Selection Red which is dark red, and claret, has an aroma of red fruit, spice, and red currant. It has an astringent, full-bodied, dense, and vivid finish.” (www.kavakli.com)
